A young University of Iowa men's basketball team has already shown that it is not afraid to step behind the arc and drain a long three-point field goal. The Hawkeyes sank 13 of 25 treys Thursday night to dominate The Citadel, 70-48, inside McAlister Field House.

Hawkeye fans will now be able to watch Thursday's basketball game at the Citadel through a webcast at citadelsports.com. Fans will be required to pay a one-time fee of $4.95 to watch the game.

After posting 87 points and winning by 42 against Texas State four days ago, University of Iowa head women's basketball coach Lisa Bluder said her team is excited to return to the Carver-Hawkeye Arena court for this weekend's KCRG-TV9 Hawkeye Challenge.

Six members of the University of Iowa field hockey team were selected to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) West Region all-America team. As the University of Iowa wrestling team prepares to open its defense of the 2008 national championship, two Hawkeyes -- senior Alex Tsirtsis at 141 pounds and junior Daniel Dennis at 133 -- are no longer on the outside looking in.

The University of Iowa men's gymnastics Head Coach Tom Dunn announced that three gymnasts have recently signed National Letters of Intent to attend the University of Iowa next fall. Anton Gryshayev, Matthew McGrath and Broderick Shemansky will join the Hawkeyes for the 2010 season.

The University of Iowa soccer team looked at the 2008 season as an opportunity to shed the label of a rebuilding program and break out. Not only did they score more goals than the year before, but the Hawkeyes won the most matches since 2002 and qualified for the Big Ten Tournament for the second straight season.

The University of Iowa field hockey team (18-4) travels to Louisville, KY, to compete in NCAA Finals this weekend. Iowa, the fourth overall seed, faces top-seeded Maryland Friday in the national semifinals. The match will begin at 4 p.m. (CST).

Iowa (2-0) plays its first road game of the season Thursday, Nov. 20, traveling to Charleston, SC to face The Citadel (1-1). Game time is 6:05 p.m. CT at McAlister Field House (6,000).Iowa opened the season with home wins over Charleston Southern (68-48) and Texas-San Antonio (73-67). The Citadel defeated Grace Bible College 81-72 at home and dropped an 82-59 decision at Virginia Commonwealth.

Forward/center Brennan Cougill of Bishop Heelan High School in Sioux City has signed a national letter of intent to join the University of Iowa men's basketball program. The announcement was made Tuesday by Hawkeye Coach Todd Lickliter.

Several times during the season, University of Iowa head football coach Kirk Ferentz emphasized how much he enjoyed working with the current group of Hawkeyes. Although the season will now officially include a postseason competition, the final regular-season game will be Saturday, Nov. 22, against rival Minnesota in the Metrodome.
